The Writer's Cottage is a tiny white house on a country road
Vintage, complete, and inspiring. Built in the nineteenth century, it’s perfect for a solo traveler or a pair of travelers exploring the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley. If you like rustic buildings, you’ll be a fan of the cottage; it’s an incredibly cozy time warp. Queen bed and living quarters downstairs; airy loft up a narrow set of enclosed stairs. There’s an orchard and lawn with grill, hammock and table.
Reached by very narrow interior stair; writing room stocked with literary biographies; looks out onto the orchard; cozy feel but with discrete spaces for two people to work. The outdoor has an acre of orchard in back, surrounded by plantings, table in back on the grass, tiny porch in front.
I was looking for somewhere quiet and cozy and this was a perfect getaway! Joe was a wonderful host and was available to make sure I had a great stay. It was 10-20min drivable to everything I needed and a longer 30-40min but easy drive to Albany. Highly recommend!

I booked the Writer’s Cottage for a week to work on my novel. It could not have been a more perfect place – lots of character in this old house and Joe and Fiona took such care in setting it up as a comfortable and creative space!

Private and homey, comfortable and well-appointed. Loved the fully stocked kitchen and the writers’ nook was perfect for getting some work done. Plus, Joe and Fiona were so lovely—very communicative and even brought fresh corn from the farmers market! A great stay at a great value!
